Why don't you use exotic woods? 
In order to enable the food safety of my cutting boards, I like to use local all natural North Carolina hardwoods in each of my creations. Mainly because I can meet the people preparing the hardwoods to know they are milled safely ensuring they remain so during my creative process. This eliminates the fear of usage when it arrives at your home and family. 

Are your Wind Spinners ok to leave out year round? 
I use a weather resistant polyurethane on them to protect them. I do advise if you are in a harsh climate that you bring them in during bad weather.

Are the coasters water resistant? 
Yes. I use the same polyurethane on them as I do the wind spinners.

Are your cutting boards' food safe?
Yes, I use all natural mineral oil on them. I recommend that once a month you rub them with a food-safe oil so they will retain their natural beauty and last for many years to come. The oil penetrates to nourish the wood which helps prevent breakage.
